The International Grooms Association (IGA) has launched its Strategic Plan for the next four years (2023-2027) with a focus on modernisation and sustainability.
The IGA is a social enterprise, founded in April 2022 with the support of the FEI. The launch of this Strategic Plan establishes the IGA’s role as a changemaker whose focus is dedicated to delivering change for international grooms, with the support of its Partners - Haygain, Cavalor and Boehringer Ingelheim.
The Strategy is a demonstration of the commitment of the IGA to representing the voice of the membership, and the professional and collaborative approach of this new and essential organisation.
“We have considered our Strategic Imperatives ensuring that we keep the focus on our members and have set deliverables that will make a difference to their working environments and to the recognition for their important role within our equestrian sports” says Executive Director Lucy Katan.
The Vision for the next four years is to bring groom focused modernisations to international equestrian sport, working with the FEI, show and event organisers, National Federations and of course IGA members, whose interests are at the heart of everything the IGA does.
“It is no secret that knowledgeable, experienced, and happy grooms are an asset to any rider and team. With a decline in those wishing to pursue this career path, it is all of our responsibility to retain our current workforce and attract the youth to discover this exciting job.”
By the end of 2027 the IGA expects to see improvements across international horse sport, with the grooms at all levels being assured of good employment, and a better recognition of their fundamental importance to FEI level competition.
