IGA introduce Rep groups

The IGA is excited to announce the launch of the IGA Rep groups; a new initiative which will help the IGA stay in even closer touch with grooms around the world, and ensure new grooms know there are ‘friendly faces’ on the international competition circuit.

The IGA is very grateful to those grooms who have stepped up to take on this role, and who work across a range of disciplines and around the world.

The Rep groups will be in regular contact with the IGA, an important next step in allowing the IGA to stay in touch with events at FEI competitions and create change at every level.

“We have always planned to have a network of Reps working with us, and it is exciting to now have the infrastructure in place.

The founding of the IGA, with the support of the FEI, was a truly historic moment for grooms as they were granted a formal voice to be heard in discussions with organisers and the FEI.

Introducing the Rep groups means a greater devolution of this voice, and the opportunity for these individuals to play a more active role in creating lasting change for grooms.

The horse industry is facing a major staffing crisis; it is vital for all of us to work together to understand how we might better meet the needs of the grooms and encourage longevity in the industry.”

Executive Director of the IGA Lucy Katan

Sean Vard, groom to Martin Fuchs and a well-known face on the jumping circuit agreed “I believe the work of the IGA is crucial to our sport in developing a more positive way towards fairer conditions for grooms and stable staff.

Hopefully with the improvements being made it will encourage more people into choosing this as a career option and enjoy the benefits of working with these incredible animals across the globe .

I’m hopeful that in becoming a Rep for the IGA I personally can provide further assistance for those who might not have the courage or will to come forwards and share their ideas / feedback and/or problems directly to the Association.”

Details of the IGA Rep groups can be found here, and they can be found working at FEI competitions around the world.
