The International Grooms Association (IGA) are very pleased to share a new partnership with Show Grooms International Ltd.
The two organisations have different operational practices but the same goals; promoting good and fair employment practices, and encouraging new grooms into the industry.
Show Grooms International was founded in 2012 by Alison McIvor, a groom with a wealth of experience including Olympics and World Cup finals. Whilst working as a freelance groom Alison recognised the need for a truly personal recruitment service for grooms, and so Show Grooms International began.
Now recognised globally as the leading specialist equine recruitment company, Show Grooms International places grooms around the world and always strives to work with the best employers, who truly value their staff and treat them well.
As the equestrian industry evolves it is important for like-minded organisations to work together to bring about the changes that will help ensure the sustainability of equestrian sport.
Alison McIvor remarked ‘I'm delighted to be formally involved with the IGA, I support their ideals and look forward to working alongside them, to help grooms involved in sport worldwide. As a veteran Show Groom in excess of 40 years, and now a recruitment consultant in the Equine Sports industry for a decade, I can see from both sides of the fence.
Working together with the IGA and the grooms, we can all play a part in improving the overall conditions at shows and at home. Some things have already been changed, but there's a lot more to do, so it’s important for all grooms to come forward and be a part of the change.”
Going forward the IGA and Show Grooms International will work together to promote fair employment, to highlight good practice at shows and on home yards, and to educate new (and existing) grooms about what they should be looking for in an employer.
